The Beautification Commission is proud to partner with the Trash Bash Council, Inc. in coordinating the annual lake clean up called Trash Bash.
Trash Bash Council, Inc. is a non-profit 501c3 organization that coordinates an annual public cleanup of Lake Hamilton, Lake Catherine and the Ouachita River (from Remmel Dam to Rockport) and area roads. Members of the Council include representatives from Entergy, Lake Catherine State Park, Garvan Woodland Gardens, Hot Springs Sanitation, Garland County Solid Waste, Mid-America Science Museum, Garland County / Hot Springs Beautification Commission, Hot Springs Parks Department, Arkansas Game & Fish Commission, Malvern Chamber of Commerce as well as the Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce.
This year's cleanup event, Trash Bash 2013, will be held on Saturday, September 21. The event will consist of a 3-hour (8am through 11am) public clean up effort of the lake shorelines, followed by an appreciation/award luncheon at Garvan Woodland Gardens on Lake Hamilton (11am through 1pm).
The purpose of the cleanup is to both clean up litter in and around Lakes Catherine & Hamilton and to educate the public that everyone must pull together in the effort to protect and enhance the environmental integrity and recreational values of our lakes and the environment.
Over 300 people participate each year in this effort removing hundreds of bags of trash from our beautiful lakes. We are excited that this event has become a continuing partnership and commitment from many community businesses, citizens, property owners, lake users and local government – to ensure that we continue to enjoy this premier recreation resource that hydropower has provided.
